Look up any Medicare- or Medicaid-certified nursing home to see its electrical safety citations from Life Safety Code surveys, how its state compares, and when its next standard survey is likely to happen. The data comes straight from CMS. Nothing you type is sent anywhere; the search runs in your browser.

    How to Read Your Results

Electrical citations are deficiencies cited under the six Life Safety Code K-tags that cover electrical systems and equipment: K911, K912, K914, K919, K920 and K921. We show citations from surveys in the last three years.

The survey window is our estimate based on the last standard survey date CMS has on record. Standard surveys must happen no later than 15 months after the previous one, and states must average 12 months, so most facilities are surveyed 9 to 15 months after the last one. If your window is open, assume the surveyors could walk in tomorrow.

No citations? Good news, but it only reflects what surveyors found on past visits. Each survey is a fresh look, and equipment added since then may not be tested yet.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Where does this data come from?
From the CMS Provider Data Catalog for nursing homes, specifically the Fire Safety Deficiencies and Provider Information files, processed September 2026. The same citations are public on CMS Care Compare.
How accurate is the survey window estimate?
It's an estimate. Federal law requires standard surveys no later than 15 months after the previous one, with a statewide average of 12 months, so we show 9 to 15 months after the last standard survey on record. Complaint surveys can happen at any time.
My facility was cited. What should I do?
Fix and document the specific items cited, then make sure your PCREE testing is complete and documented at the device level before your next survey. A qualified technician can test everything in one visit and give you survey-ready records.
