Ten questions, about two minutes. Answer for your facility as it stands today, and you'll get a readiness score with the specific gaps a Life Safety Code surveyor is most likely to find. Nothing you enter is sent anywhere. The score is calculated in your browser.

1. Do you have a current, written inventory of all patient care electrical equipment, with asset ID and location?

2. Was every device on that inventory tested within your facility's required interval?

3. Does your most recent report list each device with measured ground resistance and leakage current values (not just pass/fail)?

4. Is every failed device documented as removed from service, repaired and re-tested?

5. Are new, rental, loaner and hospice-supplied devices tested before they're used with residents?

6. Do you have the technician's training and experience documentation on file with the report?

7. Do you have proof the test instrument's calibration was current on the test date?

8. Does a named person own the PCREE program and know when the next round is due?

9. Could you hand a surveyor the record for any bed in the building within five minutes?

10. Are power strips and resident-owned electrical items checked and compliant?

How the Score Works

Each question reflects something surveyors commonly check under K921, the Life Safety Code tag for electrical equipment testing. "Yes" earns full credit, "Not sure" earns half, and "No" earns none. "Not sure" counts as a gap on purpose: if you can't confirm it quickly, a surveyor can't either. Read more about what K921 covers.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the PCREE readiness assessment check?
It covers ten areas surveyors commonly review for patient care electrical equipment: inventory, testing interval, device-level results, failures and re-tests, incoming equipment, technician documentation, instrument calibration, program ownership, record retrieval, and power strips and resident-owned items.
Is my information sent anywhere?
No. The score is calculated in your browser and your answers are not submitted or stored.
What should I do with a low score?
Start with the gaps listed in your results. For most facilities, a complete, documented testing round by a qualified technician closes several gaps at once. You can request a free quote or download the survey-readiness checklist from the results.
